Prominent professor and
management expert, Professor Monday Osemeke, is set to deliver his inaugural
lecture at the John Babatope Aluko multi-purpose hall, Glorious Vision
University, Ogwa, Edo State. The lecture, which would also be transmitted via
zoom with meeting ID: 6879332404 and passcode: GVU007 is scheduled to hold on Thursday
June 15, 2023 at 1pm.
According to Professor Osemeke,
the lecture titled "Strategic Human Resource Management Practices and
Information Technology: Digitalisation as a Catalyst for Avoiding Bumps and
Potholes in the Twenty First Century", aims to explore the role of information
technology and digitalisation as drivers of strategic human resource management
practices, especially in the digital era.
In an interview with
our reporter, Prof. Osemeke, who has over 18 years of banking experience, said
digitalisation has become critical for companies to transform and remain
competitive. He added that he is confident the lecture will provide insights on
how organisations can leverage technology to improve performance.
The professor traced
his interest in management to his banking experience and desire to address the
poor management practices that leads to banking failures. Prof. Osemeke identified inadequate funding,
outdated infrastructure, and brain-drain as major challenges confronting
managers in Nigerian tertiary institutions while calling for more investments
in the education sector to address these issues.
According to Prof.
Osemeke, the inaugural lecture is expected to attract industry leaders, human
resource professionals, information technology experts, academics and
professionals from various fields who can apply the lecture to digitalise their
organisations for better results.
